Relay for Life 5K

Come out and Run for Life!!  The Craven County Relay for Life and Grover Grizzlies Team will be sponsoring the first annual 5k to benefit The American Cancer Society.  Do you know anyone who has been touched by cancer?  We ALL do, whether directly or indirectly, we have all been affected in some way by this disease.  

Our first ever 5K will be held the morning of the Craven County Relay for Life event, on April 23, 2016 – before opening ceremonies. ***THIS IS NOT THE RELAY FOR LIFE.  THIS RACE IS A 5K RUN/WALK THAT WILL HAPPEN BEFORE THE ANNUAL RELAY FOR LIFE.***  For more info & to register for the Relay for Life, visit  www.relayforlife.org/cravennc.  

Since this is the first 5K in conjunction with the Relay for Life, a brand new route will be developed. Winners will set records and all records will be “firsts” for this event.  Winners and record setters will be announced during opening ceremonies.  Refreshments will be provided during and after the race.  Your registration fee includes entrance to the race as well as a tee shirt.  Registration is $25 until race day when it will increase to $35, so be sure to register EARLY!!  REGISTER BY APRIL 13 TO BE GUARANTEED A T-SHIRT IN YOUR SIZE!!

After the race, announcement of winners and opening ceremonies, please stay and enjoy a fun filled day at Relay!  There will be all kinds of food, games, music and tributes.  You will meet survivors, can participate in a silent auction and walk the track in honor or memory of a loved one.  The luminary ceremony that evening is an amazing recognition of those who have survived cancer and those who we miss because of it.  

Race packet pickup & onsite registration will be Friday evening, April 22 at Grover C. Fields School.  From 4:00-6:30 pm you will be able to pick up your race packet and/or register for the race if you haven't done so already.  

The Grover Grizzly Team needs your help.  Our goal for this year is $2500.  We have raised part of this amount, but proceeds from this event can help us to exceed our goal.
